AUTHOR GUIDELINES

General Information

Mahakarya Journal of Health Sciences (MJHS) welcomes the submission of original, high-quality manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of health sciences. All submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Manuscripts must comply with the journal's ethical standards, formatting requirements, and editorial policies before entering the peer review process.


Types of Manuscripts

MJHS accepts the following manuscript categories:

  • Original Research Articles

  • Review Articles

  • Systematic Reviews

  • Meta-Analyses

  • Case Reports (subject to editorial policy)

  • Short Communications

  • Community Service Articles

  • Editorials

  • Letters to the Editor


Manuscript Language

Manuscripts may be submitted in:

  • English

  • Bahasa Indonesia

Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts in English to improve international visibility.


Manuscript Preparation

Authors should prepare manuscripts using the official journal template.

A manuscript should generally include the following sections:

  1. Title

  2. Author(s) and Affiliation(s)

  3. Abstract

  4. Keywords

  5. Introduction

  6. Materials and Methods

  7. Results

  8. Discussion

  9. Conclusion

  10. Acknowledgments (if applicable)

  11. Funding Statement (if applicable)

  12. Conflict of Interest Statement

  13. References


Formatting Requirements

Authors should ensure that manuscripts meet the following requirements:

  • Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.

  • A4 paper size.

  • Single-column layout.

  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt.

  • Line spacing: 1.5.

  • Standard page margins (2.5 cm on all sides).

  • Continuous page numbering.

  • Tables and figures placed close to their first citation in the text.

  • SI (International System of Units) should be used throughout the manuscript.

Title

The title should:

  • Be concise and informative.

  • Reflect the main findings or subject of the study.

  • Avoid abbreviations whenever possible.


Abstract

The abstract should:

  • Be written in English (and Bahasa Indonesia if required by the journal).

  • Consist of approximately 200–250 words.

  • Briefly describe the background, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.

  • Avoid citations.


Keywords

Authors should provide 3–5 keywords that accurately represent the manuscript content.

Keywords should not duplicate words already appearing in the title whenever possible.


References

References should:

  • Primarily consist of recent scholarly publications.

  • Include peer-reviewed journal articles whenever possible.

  • Follow the APA (7th Edition) citation style.

  • Be arranged automatically using reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote whenever possible.

Authors are encouraged to use literature published within the last ten years unless citing landmark studies.


Ethical Requirements

Research involving human participants or animals must:

  • Receive approval from an authorized Research Ethics Committee when applicable.

  • Comply with international ethical standards.

  • Include informed consent where required.

Authors must provide the ethics approval number if applicable.


Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the research findings.

If no conflicts exist, authors should state:

"The authors declare no conflict of interest."


Funding

Authors should clearly identify all funding sources supporting the research.

If no external funding was received, authors should state:

"This research received no external funding."


Plagiarism

All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software before peer review.

The journal generally requires a similarity index of 20% or lower, excluding references, quotations, and appropriately cited materials.

Any form of plagiarism, duplicate publication, or research misconduct may result in rejection or retraction.


Submission Process

Authors should submit manuscripts electronically through the journal's Online Journal System (OJS).

The submission process generally includes:

  1. Register or log in to the journal website.

  2. Complete the online submission form.

  3. Upload the manuscript.

  4. Upload supplementary files if required.

  5. Confirm the submission.

Submissions sent by email will not normally be processed unless specifically requested by the Editorial Office.


Peer Review

All eligible manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process involving at least two independent reviewers.

Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts based on reviewer comments before a final editorial decision is made.


Copyright and License

Authors retain copyright of their published work.

Published articles are distributed in accordance with the journal's Copyright and License policy.
